Description:

Weeds are all around us and they are edible and delicious! The City of Calgary currently allows weeds to be harvested from their property as long as it does not damage the terrain or contribute to weed dispersal. We will walk through New Edinborough Park (625 3rd Ave NW) which is one of 5 parks in the city that are pesticide free.

• Learn how to identify delicious weeds by their appearance, smell and taste.

• Learn how to prepare weeds as food (recipes provided).

• Harvest your own weeds to take home.

• Tasty snacks and drinks made from weeds provided.

Families are welcome. Children under 12 are free. Please dress appropriately for being outside: warm clothes, water resistant shoes, mosquito repellent and sun screen when needed.

Payment:
$25/person. Cash and credit card are accepted on site.

About organiser:
Latifa is a medical herbalist, botanist, wild forager and educator. She is founder of Latifa’s Herbs offering sliding scale health consultations and educational services to people in Calgary and area. She is qualified with a Bachelor of Science in Botany from the U of C and a Master of Science in Herbal Medicine from Middlesex University, London. She has been studying and working with plants for over 10 years. She has worked with Calgary Board of Eduction schools, Girl Guides, Girls and Boys Club of Calgary and The Light Cellar.
