Hello Friends of Plants:

The end of one year and the coming of the next is a good time to reflect with gratitude on what we have achieved and received in the past year. With all the challenges we face on a regular basis it is easy sometimes to forget how lucky we are in so many other ways. If I think about where I was a year ago, I was living in London and getting ready to visit Bangladesh to meet my family there for the first time. It's amazing how much can change in a year!

My last event of the year will be an ointment and cream making workshop. I have been asked many times how to make simple topical preparations from plants, this is your opportunity to learn to create skin medicine for yourself or to share with friends and family.

In the spirit of the season I am gifting my time by offering huge discounts on herbal consultation packages. You can find more information about these and other upcoming events and offers below.

Wishing you the most wonderful, restorative holiday surrounded by friends and family.

Making an infused is oil is the process of extracting oil soluble constituents from plants into oils. These compounds can then be absorbed by the skin to offer a number of benefits including hydration, wound-healing and pain relief.

Ointments and creams provide convenient and practical ways to apply infused oils. We will be exploring beeswax as a thickener and as a mild emulsifier; a substance that allows water and oil to be mixed together.

With the basic skills of medicine making the skies are the limit and the money that can be saved is quite substantial.

Learning Plant Communication @ The Light Cellar
I will be continuing a series of monthly workshops starting in January looking at how we can use our senses to understand the medicinal and edible uses of plants. This is all about remembering that we haven't lost our connection to nature at all, it just needs to be nourished and we just need to listen.

I always get great feedback that helps me to grow as an educator, so you can look forward to an evolving experience that develops as we delve deeper into understanding our local winter plants.
